10.10.10 Prepares to Launch The Next Generation of Healthcare Innovators

10.10.10 founder Tom Higley addresses volunteers of the program at a recent meetup.

DENVER, CO – Starting next week, ten entrepreneurs from across the country will take part in 10.10.10 Health 2016, a ten day-long program intended to inspire the creation of market-driven solutions to complex problems like childhood obesity, antibiotic resistance, and Alzheimer’s. The innovative program will launch on Monday, June 20th at the Big Reveal, a public event where this year’s ten “wicked” health problems will be revealed for the first time to program participants and audience members alike.

Part hack-a-thon, part accelerator, and part CEO boot camp, 10.10.10 takes ten previously successful entrepreneurs and pits them against ten wicked problems – problems so complex they can often seem impossible to solve – for ten days. The brainchild of tech entrepreneur Tom Higley, 10.10.10 immerses entrepreneurs in wicked problems in an attempt to encourage them to recognize potential opportunities to develop market-driven solutions to those problems.

“We wanted to see more startup CEOs focus on solutions that result in both successful businesses and impact,” Higley explained in a press release, “so we created a platform that helps successful entrepreneurs come together to identify their ‘next big thing.”

Over a hundred volunteers spent several months preparing for this year's 10.10.10 Health.

June 20th’s Big Reveal will feature a series of presentations delivered by leading figures from organizations like Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved, Kaiser Permanente Colorado, and Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). Known as “Problem Advocates,” these presenters will try to persuade the entrepreneurs participating in 10.10.10 Health 2016 to develop market-driven solutions to this year’s ten wicked health problems.

“When our Problem Advocates are able to persuade a prospective CEO to tackle their particular problems, they are ecstatic,” Higley wrote in a recent blog post. “Why? Because a CEO tackling one of the Wicked Problems can mean that a network will grow around that CEO, a network committed to the eradication of a Wicked Problem.”

The Big Reveal, which will take place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at 2:30 PM on June 20th, is the first of three public events designed to allow attendees to follow the progress of the program. A midpoint event will be held on June 24th at 3:00 PM at Anschutz Medical Campus, featuring a review of the “sprint” process that will comprise the remainder of this year’s 10.10.10 Health. The program will close with I3 (Intention, Inception, Impact) at 3:00 PM on June 30th at the EXDO Event Center, where the ten entrepreneurs who participated in 10.10.10 Health 2016 will discuss their experiences and share their future plans.
