DENVER, CO – Prime Health, the non-profit organization at the heart of Colorado’s digital health cluster, released its annual report yesterday, in which it announced that the Colorado digital health ecosystem had received $145 million in funding in 2015.

Prime Health’s investment numbers stand in slight contrast to those reported by StartUp Health, which had set digital health funding in the Denver metro-area at $135 million for 2015.

According to Prime Health’s report, these numbers place the state of Colorado among the top ten in the nation for digital health activity. The report contained other notable figures as well, including the number of digital health companies that Prime Health had identified in the state, which it estimated at 125.

The annual report also noted the role that Prime Health had played in strengthening Colorado’s digital health ecosystem last year. According to its figures, Prime Health’s annual Digital Health Challenge had generated one million dollars worth of investment for local digital health startups by the report’s publication date.

As part of its push to speed the adoption of digital health technology within the healthcare system, in 2015 the non-profit organization also put 69 companies through its rigorous evaluation process, which is intended to help digital health startups better demonstrate clinical efficacy.

To complement its positive numbers, the annual report was interspersed with quotes from local digital health CEOs, who demonstrated optimism about Prime Health and the larger Colorado digital health ecosystem.

“As an entrepreneur, I travel extensively to the coasts and am amazed at the fresh energy and rapid growth of Prime Health,” Lauren Constantini, the CEO of Prima-Temp, was quoted as saying in the report. “This digital health community is expanding faster than anything I’ve ever seen anywhere else.”
