DENVER, Colo. – February was a forward-looking month for Colorado’s health innovation ecosystem. Health-tech entrepreneurs advocated for the continuation of Colorado’s Advanced Industries grants. A panel of policy experts speculated about the future of the ACA. And Steve Krein, the CEO of Startup Health, discussed the role that his organization would play within the ecosystem.

Throughout the state, Colorado’s health-tech community spent this month building the future of healthcare. Here are the developments that made the headlines in February.

Prime Health, a Denver-based ecosystem integrator, announced the resignation of its CEO, Jeffrey Nathanson.

Steve Krein shared his hopes for Startup Health Colorado with CMN earlier this month.

“As many of you know, I have been part of the leadership of both Prime Health and 10.10.10, the impact venture generator,” Nathanson wrote in a recent blog post. “After serious consideration, I have decided to resign my position as President and CEO of Prime Health effective February 28^th, 2017 to continue with 10.10.10 full time.”

As a full-time member of 10.10.10, Nathanson will lead the development of the venture generator’s for-profit arm. Prime Health is currently searching for an interim CEO to serve in his absence. (Read the job description here.)

Denver-based digital health company RxRevu partnered with the Mental Health Center of Denver, a behavioral health clinic that annually treats more than 40,000 patients. As part of the collaboration, RxRevu will modify its prescription decision support platform to include pharmacogenomic data, which will allow clinicians at the center to take a patient’s genetic information into account when prescribing medication.

“Patients often cycle through several ineffective medications and dosages, struggling to find something that alleviates their symptoms,” said Carm Huntress, CEO of RxREVU. “Using genetic testing to reduce the time it takes for a patient to find an effective medication is valuable work.”

Catalyst HTI, a Denver-based industry integrator, announced that Regis University had been added to its list of tenants. According to the press release, Regis’ College of Computer and Information Science will lease a space within the building when it opens in early 2018.

“Regis is a leader in cybersecurity and the protection of healthcare information,” said Mike Biselli, president of Catalyst HTI. “The College of Computer & Information Science’s ability to attract industry leaders to join its faculty will help us accelerate our healthcare innovations.”
