The Digital Health Ecosystem: Cerescan, Telespine, RxRevu & Neuromonics

DENVER, Colo. – From the 2016 Prime Health Challenge to Catalyst HTI’s groundbreaking ceremony, big things happened in the Colorado digital health ecosystem this month. Here’s a round up of the health-tech grants, product releases, investments, and expansions that made the headlines in October.

Littleton-based digital health company Cerescan recently began offering their brain imaging and analytics services at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, Alabama. The expansion will give patients in the nearby cities of Nashville, Birmingham, and Memphis access to the company’s cutting edge diagnostic technology.

“CereScan is thrilled to collaborate with Helen Keller Hospital, as we are confident so many will benefit from our functional brain imaging services,” said John Kelley, CEO and Chairman of CereScan. “Accurately identifying complex brain disorders and assisting physicians in diagnosis remains a top priority.”

In partnership with the Mayo Clinic and Innovative Design Labs, Boulder-based digital therapeutics company Telespine has been awarded a $1.7 million grant from the Institute on Aging at the National Institutes of Health. The grant will fund the development of a cloud-enabled system for remotely measuring exercise-therapy compliance among low-back pain patients.

“Anytime we can advance digital health-tech in a clinically meaningful way, it allows us to impact more people,” said Dr. Mark Barnes, CEO of Telespine. “The Mayo Clinic Spine Center comes to the table with a significant amount of knowledge and experience about low back pain. Our combined resources and everything we learn with the grant project should allow us to impact the market further in lowering the cost of treatment for patients with low back pain.”

Denver-based RxRevu has raised $3.7 million to support its efforts to lower costs for healthcare providers and patients through its prescription decision support system. RxRevu uses data analysis tools to compare the costs and efficacy rates of drugs and has received past funding from the Department of Health and Human Services, Galvanize Ventures, and Startup Health.

Westminster-based Neuromonics has announced the release of a downloadable version of their Tinnitus Alleviator software for Android users. The software uses a proprietary treatment protocol to provide relief for patients suffering from ringing in the ears.

“The Android version of the Neuromonics Tinnitus Alleviator opens up the opportunity for relief for the millions of consumers using an Android device – offering the benefit of Neuromonics’ proven treatment at a reasonable cost,” said Eula Adams, CEO of Neuromonics.
