DENVER, CO – Leading members of Colorado’s healthcare innovation community gathered at Galvanize’s Golden Triangle location last night to begin preparing for the next installment of 10.10.10 Health – arguably one of the most innovative events in Colorado’s thriving startup ecosystem.

“10.10.10 has its origins in the singular notion that entrepreneurs can do something that is extraordinarily powerful,” explained 10.10.10 Founder Tom Higley. “We haven’t taken full advantage of the opportunity that exists to encourage entrepreneurs who have had prior success to address and begin to deliver solutions to some of the world’s wicked problems.”

Last year’s 10.10.10 Health brought ten CEOs from across the nation to Denver for ten days, during which time they worked with event volunteers to develop entrepreneurial solutions to some of the healthcare system’s biggest problems, including childhood obesity, Alzheimer’s, and antibiotic resistance.

Notably, last year’s event led to the formation of the digital health startup burstIQ, which uses blockchain technology to secure healthcare data. Hopes were high among volunteers at yesterday’s gathering that this year’s 10.10.10 Health would lead to the formation of even more innovative companies.

“I think this year we have a chance to build on last year,” explained Paul LaFontaine, a healthcare analytics professional. “All of the great experimentation that occurred last year gave us a foundation that will make this year exponentially better.”

2015’s 10.10.10 Health culminated in a public event that attracted hundreds of people and earned coverage from both local and national media. The event’s commitment to developing “entrepreneur-driven solutions to the world’s wicked problems” appeared to have resonated strongly with last year’s participants, several of whom had returned to take part in this year’s 10.10.10 Health.

“The momentum that we created last February was exceptional,” said Sean Campbell, the CEO of Formative. “I think the opportunity to bubble up some disruptions for some of these wicked problems in health is right at our fingertips, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

While last night’s meeting occurred in a packed room, the volunteer-driven event remains open to anyone interested in taking part. Those present were encouraged to invite individuals thinking about participating to attend one of 10.10.10’s upcoming meetups.

“I’m hoping that it really engages the community to address wicked problems in health,” Joni Kripal, a business development executive, told CyberMed News. “It’s not just an event, it’s a movement.”
